Mudras are specific hand gestures used to facilitate the flow of energy, (Prana) in the body and mind for optimal health.
When we move our fingers and hands in a specific manner, we are altering the flow of energy through the acupuncture points in the hands. These in turn influence and stimulate specific areas in the brain, and help bring in elemental balance in the body.
Combining Pranayama (breathing practice) with Mudras helps in returning the body and breath to a state of equilibrium and parasympathetic stimulation. Following this practice one commonly experiences a sense of calm, an increase in focus and a general sense of wellbeing.
